As part of our commitment to promote a healthy community and work environment, we offer a range immunization services. This includes free immunizations to uninsured or under-insured infants and children who are 18 years of age or younger, flu and pneumonia clinics, travel immunizations, wellness clinics for the Reading Housing Authority Wellness program, and corporate immunization programs.
Our children’s clinics provide free immunizations to uninsured or under-insured infants and children at both our Berks VNA and Pottstown VNA locations. These clinics are sponsored by the Vaccines for Children Program, United Way funds, The Russell L. Hiller Charitable Trust Fund of Berks County Community Foundation, Community General Hospital Fund, PA Department of Health and by generous donation of individuals and corporations. It is important to us to be able to provide these services so we can help keep the communities we serve healthy. It is important that you bring your child’s immunization records to the clinic site, we will not administer vaccines without the immunization record. We are happy to provide these services so in the event that you cannot attend one of our clinics, please contact us and we would be happy to set up an appointment!
As part of our goal to promote healthy community and work environments, we provide flu & pneumonia clinics at small and large corporations, retirement communities, elderly housing, and school districts. Our professional nursing staff provides great customer service and have the experience and resources to meet your needs. We take care of everything to make getting a flu shot as stress free as possible.
Berks VNA provides wellness clinics for low-income, elderly and disabled adults living in Reading Housing Authority’s public housing developments. We help address residents’ social and physical needs by helping resident manage their diet, improve or maintain wellness through exercise, educate resident about and provide support during smoking cessation, and preventing further disease or health complications through education and routine health screening. At these clinics you will see our caring nurses helping with medication compliance, checking blood pressures, assisting with post-hospital instruction and coordinating medical and social services as needed. When funding is available, we will provide flu vaccinations also. Our nurses care for more than 500 residents annually. Another important part of this program are the group meetings that take place once a month. Topics include information on osteoporosis, low sodium and cholesterol diets, mood disorders, cancer, diabetes, and smoking cessation. We have had presenters from Penn State University Agricultural Center, Reading Area Community College, Alvernia University, and the PA Department of Health.
As part of our services, we offer immunizations for traveling. We offer a comprehensive pre-travel consultation, a professional staff of experienced, registered nurses and all the appropriate travel immunizations for your destination. We offer appointment scheduling at our Wyomissing location. We recommend to set up your consultation 1 month prior to your travel date and to set up your immunization date 14 days prior to your travel date. It is important to know that this is an out of pocket service. We can accept cash, check or credit card for travel immunizations. Most insurances do not cover travel vaccines since it is typically for leisure/pleasure and not medically necessary. We will provide the appropriate forms so that you can submit the immunizations to your insurance for reimbursement but we cannot guarantee that your insurance will cover them. We offer immunizations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Meningococcal, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Japanese Encephalitis, Polio, and Yellow Fever.
For more information on our immunization services or to schedule an appointment please contact our Community Health Coordinator at (610) 378-0481 X 3124 or e-mail Amanda.price@hhcminc.org.
